Steoher this morning, in connection with prepa ration for trial for a case of lead poisoning.

Kille of the insurance com pany asked me whomhe should contact in our organiza tion in the event that his people felt there was a joint legal responsibility between his company and ours in the death of Hubbard* because of the fact that we introduced the tetraethyl lead into the tank at Tampa.

It is not to be expected that any suggestive symptoms In these men are due to occupational lead exposure.

There was no evidence of the presence of any tetraethyl lead or triethyl lead compound.

Lead as a factor is ruled out by, (1) course and recovery, (2) absence of signi ficant exposure, (3) negative physical findings for lead, (4) negative laboratory findings

In all such cases we would appreciate very much having the pertinent clinical data for our p^n immediate and subsequent information. 2 We are doing some work at present with the deimatological service on arsenle, I expect bo go over our analytical data promptly and to attempt to outline the general direction which it would seem most useful to follow In subsequent work, with reference to lead, ss are interested In any and all types of cases in which there is sound clinical reason for suspecting that lead may be a factor# Our knowledge of the normal findings is adequate for our present purposes and thus we are not interested in the study of random samples from patients of all types.

As to the cause of the infections, the complaint alleges that he "came in contact with rnnch of the fumes and vaport froia said gasoline which contained a mixture of lead and other poisonous substances".

They now display a sign at one of their stations which reads as follows: "Mo Poison (Lead Treated) Gasoline Sold Here".

Skin irritations were on the rise from the use of artifi cial resins, and lead poisoning was becoming common from the use of tetraethyl lead in gasoline.
