Hew York Dear Mr. Jenkins: I have delayed writing to you In order to get my time straightened out to best advantage, so as to accomplish the work at Lockport. X have finally evolved a plan, which I should not like to change unless foreseen clrcumstances make it necessary, or if you cannot make suitable arrangements* I expect to bring my technician and to work with him myself frcen Monday, May 24th through Friday, May 29th, if necessary* I must be in Cincinnati Saturday morning* W shall leave here on Sunday and would like to be met in Buffalo early Monday morning (7:30 A H.) and to get to work promptly on arrival in Lockport* I shall work as fast as X can and as late as I find it possible to keep going, and if X can do what is to be done in three or four days rather than five, X shall be glad to shorten the fcl;s;e. I shall take certain samples of blood and urine for analysis, and shall make arrangements for the collection of large samples of feces and urine, which are to be forwarded to us for analysis. We shall do the blood examinations and the usual clinical tests on the urine, on the spot# Since we should have an understanding on matters of expense, X expect the total cost of our work, on the basis of 36 men and 5 days work, to run to about $1100*00* This includes a charge of $100*00 per day for the joint service of myself and my technician, our out-of-pocket expenses, and the cost of the analytical work on the basis of three samples per man (blood, urine, feces) -which X have previously indicated at $5*00 per sample* This may be reduced somewhat by the elimination of certain analyses if they appear to be unnecessary or inadvisable. I trust you can work things out on the basis of this schedule, and in any case I should like you to 2 Mr* X. Dent Jenkins write or wire me on receipt of this letter. I am enclosing herewith reports of analyses on samples of blood and urine sent in by Dr. Barry. I should appreciate it if you would pass these reports on to him. Both you and he will be pleased, doubtless, by the fact that the results on all these men are within the range of values obtained on normal persona with no occupational exposure to lead compounds. It is not to be expected that any suggestive symptoms In these men are due to occupational lead exposure. No doubt X shall have an opportunity to see Dr. Barry at a later date to check up on the histories of these men.
