December 6, 1937 The following are ay comeats on Mr* Schaefer*s memorandum of December 3# with regard to the use of extra drivers on our tank trucksi Naturally my knowledge of this situation is extremely limited and my comments are merely a personal reaction to the handling of a prod uct such as ours with respect to its value* weight* and aost important, its toxic properties* i Frora past discussion it is evident that members of the Safety Committee sad the major executives of the company feel that to transpor tation of fluid on the public highway is not a matter of complete satis faction to us* Ihile such shipments are obviously better than the use of druse, they are not as safe as tank cars* It is recognised that the probability, of accidents is -greater on the highway m& such accidents , .
