Sidford, vice-president, and H. P. Cavarly, assistant manager of the Atlantic branch, were guests of honor at a dinner held at the Hotel Biltmore in New York on Jan, S, The dinner was tendered by employees of the Atlantic branch. About 275 persons, including some from the general office and research laboratories, were present. J. G. C. McNair, manager of the Atlantic branch, was toastmaster. On behalf of the branch employees, he presented Mr. Sidford with a silver cocktail set and Mr. Cavarly with a silver console set. In addition to the guests of honor, the speakers were Fletcher W. Rockwell, president} C, W. Gesregan, manager of the Atlantic branoh metal division} H. W. Dickerson, Atlantic branoh comptroller} E. P, Loud, general superintendent of Atlantic branch plants} J. J. Lynch, superintendent of the Atlantic Works} and F. M. Coppersmith who represented E. H, Norman, superintendent of the Bradley Works. Bertha K. Curry, who has been longer in service than any other Atlantic branch woman, and J. L. Smith, now retired, who was the oldest salesman present with a continuous reoord of service in the Atlantic branoh, were also called upon to say a few words. Mr, Sidford, who completed his fiftieth year of service last July, began his career as an office boy with the Atlantic White Lead Co. He was successively assistant comptroller, assistant manager and manager of the Atlantic branch. He became a director of National Lead Company in 1926 and a vioe-president in 1939. Mr, Cavarly, who passed the half-century service mark on Jan, 2, also began his career in the office of the Atlantic tjihite Lead Co. For several years, he worked in the laboratory under Dr. Thompson and was then made . assistant superintendent of the Atlantic Works. Later he became superin tendent of this plant and, in 1912, general superintendent of all Atlantis branch plants. He was appointed assistant manager of the branch in 1928. 0000-NLI-000025003
