Fred Williams SUBJECT: 1973 ASBESTOSIS SURVEY / This will confirm our discussion this morning regarding Dr. Sexton's subject report dated October 5. I understand that we handle asbestos in only small quantities at the present time; this use involves mainly tearing into existing insulation. Our new Insulation Standards include no asbestos but do present a dust problem of their own. We have agreed to take several steps as follows: 1) You, Fred Williams , Cliff Allen, and Frank Casabona will review with our insulation foremen the adequacy and application of controls employed where asbestos materials are used. In addition, you will advise the frequency with which we make samples to determine the quantity of asbestos being enhaled by affected personnel. I believe that this review should also be extended to include our current dust problem with the newer types of insulation materials, 2) Upon assembly of the above information, we will review the overall situation with Dr. Sexton ' to determine if further action is required. It might also be beneficial to review our recent discussion regarding our sandblasting operation with him at that time.
