WORK ASSIGNMENT CODES B.F.GOODRICH CHEMICAL COMPANY LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY ISSUE NO. 1 General Information Pertaining to the Louisville Work Assignment Coding System: 1. Each Work Assignment Code contains six digits - the first three digits are the Home Base Code while the final three digits are the Job Code. Louisville Work Assignment Code (6 digits) = Home Base Code (3 digits) - + Job Code (3 digits) 2. In the general listing which follows, work assignments have been listed by generic classifications in the order shown below: Raw Material Handling Production Maintenance' Utilities * Material Storage Management, Technical, and Service Groups Wood Products Plant Also included are the OBSOLETE JOB CODES and SPECIAL STATUS CODES which, in addition to the generic classification labelled RELIEF OPERATORS, have been created expressly for use in the compilation of Louisville Plant work histories. 3. Each generic classification has been underlined for identification purposes. These classifications consist of three entries - the generic work assignment description, the home bases, and the numeric Job Code. A home base entry containing the phrase "Any Building Except As Listed Below" indicates that the numeric Job Code applies for that work assignment except for the special*" cases cited within the generic classification. For example, consider the generic classification of HELPER. A Building 131 Helper is coded 13 11 9 O' since that work assignment is not specifically subclassified within the generic classification. However, an HRC Helper in Building 1 is a special subclassification with a specific Job Code CL 9^ 6) and is thus coded 0, .0 1^ 1^ _9 . (Note: Special rules pertaining to assembling Work Assignment Codes for the work histories are discussed under item 8.) The following special rules apply for assembling Work Assignment Codes for the work histories: Rule A. Use a Hr>me Base Code of () 0^ 0^ when personnel records preclude the selection of a Building/Location for the home-base or when no home-base is given in the general listing. Examples: 1* Pipefitters. Personnel records do not distinguish between a shift pipefitter, an area shop pipefitter and a pipefitter based in the Pipe Shop. From the general listing, the pipe fitter Job Code is 475. (See generic classification MAINTENANCE-AREA/SHIFT/SHOPS,) The Work Assignment Code, for any pipefitter, would thus be 00047 5 However, for personnel monitoring purposes a distinction could and would be made according to the work assignment of the pipefitter during the time of personnel monitoring. 2. Relief Operators. Since relief operators work within an area as opposed to any one building, no building numbers are given to this generic classification in the general listing. But by the above rule, all relief operators will have a Home Base Code of 0^ () (K Thus a Plant I PVC Relief. Operator is coded 0 0 0 1.7 1, a Plant I Paste and Latex Relief Operator as 000 172, etc. NGC37930 Rule B. Use the generic Job Code when unable to distinguish between work assignments within a given generic classification. Since all generic Job Codes end in zero, a Work Assignment Code ending in zero will signify that that particular generic classification cannot be further refined for medical purposes. Examples: 1. Tank Farm Workers. The only subclassification made within the Tank Farm on personnel records is for a supervisor. Hence, any Tank Farm worker is coded 0_ 0_ _0 1_ 1_ 0_ (the Home Base Code by Rule A, the Job Code by Rule B). As before, the subciasslfications under the generic classifi- ? cation of TANK FARM would be employed by plant environmental personnel. 2. Helpers. All Helpers within the plant are referred to as Chemical Helpers. However, Chemical Helpers can be distin guished by department numbers from the:personnel records. For instance, a Chemical Helper-Paste would be coded 1. J2 1. 1.'jJ. 3. (Note: the work assignment Chemical Helper-Paste is equivalent to the assignment HRC Helper-Paste) 9. When a person being monitored remains in an area other than the designated home base associated with his Job Code for the duration of the sampling period, the Home Base Code assigned to the area in which this time was spent will be recorded as his Home Base Code. 10.
