Technical Department Bulletin FILE: P-A-E-ll -2- Remarks This bulletin cancels Technical Department Bulletin No. 2535 da ted April U4., I960 and its supplements. No. 2551* dated September 15, I960 and No. 2659 dated August 6, 1963. The canceled bulletins describe current colors in Noxide the En during Metal Paint, the label name of which is to be changed to Noxide Metal Paint. With adoption of the revised name, certain items will be dropped or changed, and two new colors will be added. The changes will be coincidental with the adoption of Noxide Equip ment Enamel. The exact date when Noxide Metal Paint will become available Is to be announced at the 1964 Sales Meetings. FORMULAS NOT CHANGED No change, other than the brand name identification, will be made with respect to: 97 Natural Graphite 101 Red 105 Aluminum DISCONTINUED FORMULAS The following items are to be discontinued when the revised line is adopted: 99 Blabk 103 Pearl Gray 104 Dark Gray f NEW OR REVISED FORMULAS Noxide Metal Paint 106 Green will be rust-inhibitive, although its color will be the same as that of Noxide the Enduring Metal Paint 106 Green. Noxide Metal Paints 108 Haze Gray and 109 Smoke Gray are new colors in the Noxide line and they, too, will be ru^t-inhibitive. 108 Haze Gray matches Noxide Equipment Enamel 154 Haze Gray. 109 Smoke Gray matches P&L House Paint 325 Smoke Gray. RUST INHIBITIVE COLORS Four items - 101 Red, 106 Green, 108 Haze Gray and 109 Smoke Gray will be rust-inhibitive. Each contains basic lead silico chromate, a recognized inhibitor. This ingredient makes it possible to rec ommend the four items as primers on small areas, and to spot prime repaint work. For best results on new commercial work, Noxide Red Lead Primer or Noxide One Day Primer should always be specified. 0007-PTL-000776 htt ft Lambert Pre* -- USA |t?6M NUMBER: 2671*. Pratt & Lambert-Inc. Technical Department Bulletin PILE: P-A-E-Jl 3 Neither 97 Natural Graphite'nor 105 Aluminum contains rust-inhibi tor. These items provide excellent protection (over a suitable primer) and do not require the'lift'that inhibitor gives to the colors. Furthermore, the orange color'of the inhibitor would dis tort the familiar and accepted colors of both 97 Natural Graphite and 105 Aluminum. COMPOSITION Except for 101 Red, 105 Aluminum and 106 Green, the items are lin seed oil paints of the same type and quality as P&L House Paint tints. 101 Red and 105 Aluminum "are varnish base paints. 106 Green'is an alkyd paint of the same type as P&L House Paint Blind Green, which it matches in color. i 105 ALUMINUM 105 Aluminum was adopted in 191*9 especially for use on elevated water tanks, bridges, and similarly exposed structures. Typical aluminum paints set up fast'when theyare applied on surfaces ex posed to the sun or'to wihd, and therefore occasionally dry with a streaked appearance. '105^ Alumihtim is'formulated to minimize this problem. 'It'is ready-mixed and contains l-J lbs. aluminum paste per gallon of vehicle. SPECIFICATIONS NEW WORK Coat: Noxide Red Lead Primer, or Noxide One Day Primer. Second Cofct^ 'Noxide'Metal Paint, each gallop thinned with one pint mineral spirlts^qr turpentine ` (do NOT thin Natural Graph ite). Third Coat: Noxide MetajPaint. OLD WORK - Spot prime bare spots. App'ly^one or, preferably, two coats Noxide Metal Paint. If two coats ai^ev^applied, thin first coat as for new work. ^ W. H. LUTZ \ J 0007-PTL-000777 Wmtt * Lunbrt Pt m* --USA |<26M
