However, you were wearing a supplied air mask during the disconnect, so your exposure should have been less than the 5 ppm limit for a fifteen min ute sample. The reason for the high concentration was that a small amount of liquid vinyl left in the concentric reducer on the ship vaporized into the surrounding area. This ship's management has been asked to use an eccentric reducer to help solve this problem in the future. You may contact our Med ical Department if you feel you need a medical examination. Also, supplied breathing air should be used on all vinyl chloride ship disconnects.
