8iliested 8uperex Blocks - Swindell-Dressier Cap. Bethlehea Steel Pleat, Sparrows Foist, Maryland
Ve hare exanlned the brokaa pieee of Silicated Superex Block takes froa the Job of the Svindell-Dresaler annealing ores, Bethlehea Steel Pleat, Sparrovs Foist, Maryland. Is as effort to deteraiae the te^erature to ehieh the block vas sub jected, a 2" eross-seetioa vas cut parallel to the length of the block and vas cut into apprcartaatcly 2" lengths. These pieces vers dried and then subjected
$to soaking heat tenperature of lfi00*7 fa 20 hours. After cooling, the blocks
vere again weighed and loss is weight deterained. file results are as follows:

A review of these values and as exaainatloa of the fired pieces show a progressive increase is loss is weight froa the hot to cold end of the block. The cola of the heated speelaens froa hot end of bloek vas slnllar to a block fired at l600*P. Proa this data, ve nay conclude that the block in question vas sot subjected to a tenperature exceeding l600*F.
A eross-seetioa of the bloek vas also cut asd submitted to J. C. Radwanker. Research, fa tests. 8. A. Greenberg (Research) ran the Theraobalance teste without drying speelaens. Results of his tests are as follows:
