The program is designed to mutually benefit the host company, individual Egyptian General Petroleum Company (EGPC) interns, the petro-chemical industry, and suppliers. Program plans include up to eight weeks of work with American business counterparts during 1995, probably the summer. In addition interns will attend industry trade conferences, participate in training programs, meet with industry trade associations and government officials regulating the industry. General Goals By working closely with American counterparts, EGPC interns will team "best practices" for dealing with challenges generic to the petroleum and chemical industries. We are particularly interested m best practices applicable to: -occupational health and safety -information management -operating procedures -environmental protection -production planning -pipeline operations training and development -quality control/improvemem Host companies will benefit by forging a strategic alliance with representatives of EGPC and Egypt-a country which has successfully completed a three-year program of economic liberalization and structural adjustment and is poised for a new era of accelerated growth. This month Vice President Gore signed an agreement to promote economic growth and development between the private sector of the United States and Egypt. Specific Goals Specific goals will be developed with each company boating the interns for an extended period of tune. We expect the process to include fax interviews with individual interns. who Are the Interna? The interns, management employees of EGPC, hive responsibilities similar to typical petroleum and chemical operations in the United States. This internship program ia sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development. National Education International a division of National Education Corporation, contracts with US-AID to provide training for EGPC employees. What Is HazMasters Role7 HazMasters is working with NEI to coordinate the program in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, D. C. and other cities. El Tayeb, Production Planning Manager for MZSR Petroleum Company, is responsible for inspecting consignment certificates and recertifying imported oil and chemical additives. He evaluates new products from both technical and economical viewpoints, carries out tests, and manages the planning process. Following manufacture, he approves grease products and, if necessary, ensures correction to the blending process. He works with the marketing department on the form, size and packaging of all products. In previous assignments, he worked for EGPC's offshore international drilling and maintenance/engineering companies. He has a B. S. degree. Nahed Ibrahim Khalil serves as a Manager of Development far Petroleum Gas Company (Petrogas). Her current responsibilities include: analyzing employee work experiences, assessing reports for middle ami senior managers, analyzing training needs, budget preparation and training program recommendations. Her work applies to all employment levels, including senior management. She has previously held positions in industrial relations and organization departments. She has a B. A. in commerce. KmaH Ahrifl gaiter Salamah it an operations engineer for Petroleum Pipelines Company. He is responsible for the operations of pump stations, tank firms, pipelines, surge systems, and other systems associated with pipeline operations. He earned a B. S. degree in Mechanical Power Engineering. Alaa Ahmed Mohamed Bakkar is a chemist at the MISR Petroleum Company Research Center. He specializes in lube oils, industrial oils, special oils, and production of technical and medicinal white oils and production of medicinal waxes. Dr. Saleii-Zaky-Zidan1 is the Director of the Medical Center for EGPC. He directly supervises these Medical Center branches: curative medicine, preventive medicine, lab and radiology. When earning his medical degrees, he focused on chest diseases. Dr, Mohamed Moustafa-Abd El Aziz,2 is a physician at the Medical Center for an EGPC petrochemical company. He supervises shift doctors and administrative units, plans physician training programs and develops industrial health procedures.
