Scott, Hilary, and Jamie,
I've spoken with our directors about the suggested change of plans for the NISC meeting/mussels announcement - they completely understand your concerns. There will be no issues on WGA's end if you decide to change venues.
I believe that the next step for us is to develop a joint press release, and to figure out how the proposed commitments work into that document. Please let me know who my point of contact should be for that task.

OK, no problem, Bill. Put the idea where you think it makes the most sense. It could be further toward the front of the letter, if that makes more sense.

Bill, If the letter could acknowledge the coordination activity that we have been undertaking for the
last three months, that would be very helpful. Perhaps in the paragraph talking about Request 1 could be edited to read:
"Western Governors appreciate the significant efforts of Interior over the last three months to build a closer partnership between federal agencies and the Western States in addressing invasive mussels. Based on the progress made to date, Western Governors request that DOI continue to work with us to identify ways to halt the spread of invasive quagga and zebra mussels between Western waterbodies. "

Bill:
Many thanks for the quick feedback re next steps. Are you able to send us a pre release copy of "the letter"...? It might help us figure out how to pivot as strategically as possible.
All the best,
Jamie

Bill, Per my voicemail, we'd really like to see the letter acknowledge our joint activity of the last several months. Right now it gives the impression that this effort is a brand new idea.
