2965160 From: Subject: Date: ? conference call with FPG (Plastics Europe) and RPA / Follow up dinsdag 19 januari 2021 08:28:04 Dear Thanks for your email and the relevant remarks/questions. I have forwarded your email to my colleagues working respectively on breakdown pathways and on electronics. |EXEXN Regarding your third point on the workshop on essential use; I did put both and you on our long list of possible participants. However to facilitate good discussions, we could only invite 3x 15 persons for the workshop, representing different stakeholders. Therefore, we had to make some choices. Last week, I had email contact with and I noted his interest and put him on the reserve list. After the three workshop sessions, I am sure the discussions will continue and there will be plenty opportunities to discuss further. On this occasion | would also like to wish you a happy new year and all the best for the year ahead! | would like to follow-up with you on three things based on our discussion this morning: 1. You asked a question regarding the PFAS substances which are less persistent, and about their degradation products. | didn't respond as not fluoropolymers related, but some of 3M's direct PFAS products, e.g. 3M Novec-branded products (fluoroketones, fluoronitrile, hydrofluoroethers), would be considered as less persistent. Those are low global warming solutions used in many applications in transportation, energy, electronics, fire-protection and other sectors as a replacement of chemicals with much higher global warming potential (halons, HFCs, SF6). The 3M Novec-branded products preferentially partition to the atmosphere and studies indicate that they degrade over time through natural 2965160 processes in the atmosphere and do not redistribute to soil or water to any meaningful degree. | would be happy to discuss and explain those further to you if you deem relevant in preparation of the upcoming PFAS restriction. Please let me know whether you would be interest in a follow-up call to discuss this. 2. Electronics study: as mentioned during the call, 3M would be interest to contribute to this study as we have both direct PFAS as well as PFAS-enabled products selling into this sector. | would be grateful if you could connect me with the relevant consultants working on this study. 3. Online Workshop on Essential Uses of persistent chemicals: would it be possible to include also AmCham EU as a participant to this workshop? | have checked with them and | understand they have not been invited (yet). At AmCham EU we contributed extensively on the subject of the `Essential use concept and PFAS' since last summer already -- we were one of the first industry stakeholders to develop a position/discussion paper on this.
