OBJECTIVE:
To provide personnel with a list of approved lubricants, where each is used, and requirements of plant lubrication.
FREQUENCY:
As needed when adding or changing lubricant on any given piece of equipment.
RESPONSIBILITY:
It is the responsibility of all Dow and Contract personnel to follow this procedure. Failure to follow this procedure could lead to equipment failures.

REQUIREMENTS:
A. NOTIFICATION:
The Board Operator should be notified when oil is being changed on any critical equipment that is on-line.
B. DOCUMENTATION:
Addition of lubricants to the equipment done by Dow personnel where quantity or frequency is above average, must be documented in the Control Room log book or Area Operator relief book, and a CHAMPS work order generated so that the problem can be determined and repaired.

PREPARATION:
A. SAFETY/ENVIRONMENTAL
1. EQUIPMENT:
Isolated and red tag appropriately.
2. HAZARDS:
Oil spillage-slips, Rotating equipment, Pinch points
3. PRECAUTIONS:
Oil pads should always be used to minimize contacting the cement or soil.
B. EQUIPMENT:
PROCEDURE:
1 . Lubricants should be checked and proper levels of lubrication maintained to ensure reliability and life of the equipment. Over lubrication is often as bad as running with too little lubrication.
.2 Oil pads should be used to minimize oil to the equipment and surrounding area. Not using oil pads and failure to dispose of soiled pads can both result in an environmental incident.
3. The following schedule indicates the proper lubricants to be used.
