Allen CATE August 14, 1974 SUBJECT Respiratory Protection Beginning on August 14, 1974, all personnel connected with vinyl chloride polymerization operations will be provided with their own individual continous flow respirator. This is to be U3ed in conjunction with the newly installed plant breathing air system. It will be the individuals rcsponsibiltv to clean the masks at the end of each shift, and to store them in their own locker. It must also be pointed out that each man should and must inspect his mask daily for defects or damage and report them to his supervisor. Beginning at 0800 Hrs. this morning respiratory protection will be mandatory for the following operations: A. Polymer Operators 1. When ever a charge bomb is opened. 2. While bleeding down any knock out pots or receivers. 3. While cleaning delumpers. 4. While sampling blend tanks. 3. laborers 1. While High Pressure cleaning a reactor. 2. While manually cleaning a reactor. 3. While cleaning a charge bomb or other plugged piping. C. Mechanics 1. While opecning a reactor. 2. While breaking or disconnecting any lines or vessels which have previously contained VOL. D. Monomer Operator 1. While hooking up or un-hooking a VCL tack car. 2. While taking a VCL sample. E.
