During a recent call on Diamond-Shamrock of Cleveland, we learned that they plan to produce polysulfides. They are currently field-testing and hope to go into production "soon" at Ashtabula, Ohio. All technical service worx will be . handled out of Painesville, Ohio. Diamond tried to develop polymercaptans as competitors to polysulfides some years ago but without conspicuous success. It Is believed that Diamond's polysulfides will be similar to Thiokol's since Thioxol patents expired some two-three years ago. Present U. S. prices for polysulfides are: 65 cents/pound for automotive uses up to 91 cents/pound for other uses The above is based on information from Diamond. Diamond has indicated a strong desire to obtain plasti cizer information from Monsanto and this will be given. At the same time, we plan to maintain our regular con tact with Thiokol's Marketing Center. Up to now, rapport has oeen excellent and we will try to xeep it that way.
