Harch 31-Aprll 1. 1966 The annual meeting of the members of the Lead Industries Association, Inc., was held on Thursday and Friday, March 31April 1, 1966 at the Chase-Park Plaza Hotel, St. Louis, Missouri. Those in attendance are listed in Appendix "A.* The meeting was called to order by the President, Simon D. Strauss. The Secretary reported a quorum was present in person or by proxy. The Secretary presented a copy of the notice of meeting which had been mailed to each member, as provided in Section 2.04 of the Corporation's By-Laws. The copy was ordered filed with the minutes as Exhibit "A* (Sent to members on Harch 4, 1966.) The minutes of the previous meeting of April 28-29, 1965 were approved. MEMORIAL RESOLUTION TO ROBERT L. ZIEGFELD The President reported that the following resolution was passed by the Board of Directors at its meeting on January 20, 1966. IN MEMORIAM Robert Lindley Ziegfeld had served Lead Industries Association for 37 years when he was taken by untimely death on January 11, 1966. During those many years he contributed his wisdom, vision and experience to the growth and use fulness of this organization. Executive Vice President at the time of his death, he had served in many capacities and if he had grown with the Association, it had grown with him, too, and under his guidance and counsel. His fair openhandedness, warm friendship and personality will be sorely missed by every member of the Association and its staff. His accomplishments stand as challenging monuments in the sight of those he left behind. United States Smelting Refining and Mining Co. i  , Annual Meeting Minute* -3- Maxch 31-April 1, 1966 There being no further nominations, it was regularly moved, seconded and unanimously carried that nominations be closed and that the Secretary be instructed to cast one ballot for the slate recommended by the Nominating Committee. "THE LEAD MATRIX* L.I.A.'s MOVIE The Secretary introducing the Association's new movie "The Lead Matrix" 16trm., color and sound, reported that the picture was designed for a semi-technical audience the level, say, of an engineering student in college. As its title suggests, it points out the binding and pervasive force that lead exerts in nodern technology. Although the film has been some time in the making he stated, it is most fortunate that it has been released for distribution to the general public at a time when unfounded and hysterical allegations are being circulated about lead as a health hazard. The Secretary also reported that 110 prints of the film has been placed in the hands of a professional distributor whose job it is to see that our picture gets maximum exposure. In the brief period of time since the film's release, February, 1966, 48 different bookings in groups ranging from the Spokane Chamber of Commerce to the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, have been made. In addition 28 TV program directors have screened the film for future use in their stations. Advance notices of where find when the film is to be shown is being sent to all members. The Secretary also stated that prints are available on loan to all members and may be arranged for by simply writing the Association.
