Each ladder shall have a visible sticker at eye level which states "Inspect Ladder Before Using." 4. Any ladder found in an unsafe condition should be tagged "Dangerous Do Not Use," and should not be used until returned to a safe condition. Unrepairable ladders should be destroyed to prevent any future use and then disposed of. 5. A general checklist for-inspecting ladders for defects is as follows: a. Are rungs or steps loose? b. Are ladder shoes in good condition? c. Are there any cracked, split, broken or bent uprights? d. Are there any loose screws or bolts? e. Is top hinge in good condition? f. Are folding braces in good condition? g. Is the ladder properly identified? h. Are ropes on extension ladders in good condition? 6. In addition to the above, portable platform ladders should also be inspected for: a. Is railing and toe plate in good condition? b.
