Ltd. 423 Green Road Stoney Creek Ontario The attached report on air sampling for asbestos indicates that the levels were below the Ontario's Standard of 0.2 fibres greater than 5 microns in length per cubic centimeter Hence workers exposure to airborne asbestos is considered insignificant under the conditions equivalent to the sampling conditions However it is noted in the Observation section of the report that no blue asbestos was being used at the time of air sampling Therefore it is suggested that a repeat visit by a technician be made under full operating conditions for assessment of asbestos in the workroom air It is recommended that all precautionary measures asbestos as explained in the attached Health Data be followed when handling Sheet for asbestos Order Suggested to be Issued None at this time pending results of additional assessment of air quality at the plant Supervisor Kwok P. Gracomelli coer occeone Abstract A visit was made to the above plant to collect air asbestos Two samples were collected on cellulose filters 0.8 micron pore size and 37 mm diameter flow rate of 2.0 liters per minutes samples for acetate at an air > Crane Packing -2- February 21 1980 Observations and Comments 1 General The particular operations involving the use of asbestos are gasket making punch press and braiding Blue asbestos is still involved in gasket making but none was being used at the time of air sampling Asbestos : sample was taken in the braiding operation only 2 Ponymixer According to the information given this writer a batch containing asbestos called 777 Sticks is mixed in the Ponymixer once or twice a year Approximately 13 lbs of asbestos are used in making a batch 3 Respirator Respirators were not worn by any workers at the time of sampling RS R.
