Mr. A, B. Holton Vice President - Technical Advisor The Sherwin-Williams Ccnpany . 101 Prospect Avenue, N.W. Cleveland, Ohio 44101
Dear Mr. Holton:
Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding H.R. 19172, the Lead-Based Paint Elimination Act of 1970.
H.R. 19172 was reported out by the Senate Labor and Public Welfare Coonittee an December 14th, and is scheduled for consideration by the full Senate this week. The bill was amended in Committee to limit its application to "interior surfaces, porches, and exterior sia-faces to which children may be coomonly exposed, of residential housing." I think this change will meet the objections of the paint industry without compromising the intent of the bill.
I appreciate receiving your views on this legislation.
Best regards.
Sincerely,
PHDrwbc
