EXHIBIT
ASBESTOS AND LEAD SURVEY
4`--' V -
CHR-50
Summary: Asbestos sample results were all within^SS^BSi^TM^"'
Permissible Exposure Limits. Airborne lead results were found to be in excess of the new standard at the two proof test operator stations and at two heat press stations. Improved work practices, administrative controls, and downdraft ventila tion of the parts bins of the proof testers should be implemented.
Discussion: During December 1978, the writer conducted a semi annual asbestos survey at the Trenton Chemical Plant. Also an initial lead survey was performed for the purpose of determining if any problems existed in that area.
Air samples indicate no problems with the asbestos levels at this tine. Good maintenance was observed throughout the plant as well as proper respirator usage. It should be pointed out, however, that the two highest asbestos levels came from the proof test operators. Upon checking it was found that these two individuals have continually had higher than plant average exposures. The equipment was checked, as well as, the ventilation and all was functioning properly. The problem appears to oe one of work practices and should be addressed, if not in view of the asbestos exposure, then in view of the lead exposures. It should be noted that these individuals wore no respirators.
