''` 1 ; Dear Ross: You will probably recall that, some time ago, I prepared and sent to the P'ood and Drug Admin istration a letter commenting on the timing and content of the article entitled "Polyvinyl Chloride: Why FDA Acted" which appeared in the December/January issue of FDA Consumer. In keeping with the promise made to me, FDA has now printed my letter in the current March edition of its publication. In due course we will send reproductions of the enclosed page to our overall PVC Interest Mailing List since we suspect that some companies in the industry might find the item useful for customer assurance purposes. In the meantime, I thought it would be a good idea to send you and the others receiving copies of this letter a reproduction immediately. On another, and less favorable though prob ably not critical note, 1 am also enclosing herewith a copy of a letter and paper we have just received from Myra Karstadt of the National Institute of En vironmental Health Sciences. As I am reasonably sure I informed everyone earlier. Dr. Karstadt visited us prior to giving her paper at the NIEHS/WHO symposium that Dan Dixler attended early in March,, It was at that time that we informed her about the information you had given us concerning the "delisting" of the socalled fabricator cases of angiosarcoma. I now realize AS I 00023039 Dr. A. Ross Adams April 8, 1975 Page Two from John Barr's letter of April 6 (which Joe Hadley received today) that we probably overstated the case when we indicated to Dr. Karstadt that complete "delisting" had taken place. To keep matters on a scientist-to-scientist level, Dan will be writing to Dr. Karstadt to explain the situation and, thereby, hopefully preserve our credibility. I suspect that it would serve no useful purpose to talk with Dr. Lloyd as is suggested in the Karstadt letter to us but if you have any contrary thoughts in this connection, by all means let me know.
