This is caused by higher temperatures at the trailing edge of the pad. This type of tapered wear pattern is usually considered normal. Sometimes you may find that the brake pad lining is worn more at the leading edge of the inner pad and the trailing edge of the outer pad. This wear pattern is caused by the design and mounting of the caliper, which allows the caliper to twist slightly during brake application. Because of the variations in wear patterns, it is essential that you inspect the leading and trailing edges of both brake pads.
