Condray convened the meeting at 8:40 a.m. Minutes of the October 15, 1986 committee meeting were approved with the following changes: item 3, delete first paragraph, and delete "also" from second paragraph; list of attendees, correct the spelling of G. Requests for Outside Services Funds The Hazard Assessment Task Group asked the committee to approve the proposal to spend $125,000 in outside services funds to investigate the toxicity database for industrial chemicals. The committee approved the proposal with changes in some sections. The committee approved the Exposure Assessment Task Group's proposal for the expenditure of $5,000 in outside services funds to retain the services of Temple, Barker & Sloan to evaluate the NOES II survey instrument. The committee approved the proposal to spend $5,000 in outside services funds to prepare a workshop on the guidelines for new chemical risk evaluation. G. Baker will send copies of the guidelines to the committee. 3. Southwest Research Institute Project J. Caporossi briefed the committee on the Exposure Assessment Task Group's proposal to participate in a project by Southwest Research Institute to measure occupational exposure. The committee approved the proposal and recommended that NIOSH and OSHA also participate in the project. 4. Developmental Toxicity Testing B. Hagerman briefed the committee on the Hazard Assessment Task Group's request for approval of a letter to be sent to CMA member companies recommending an approach to developmental toxicity testing.The committee approved the letter with modifications made to it. 5. HSC FY 87/88 Outside Services Budget G. Rodenhausen briefed the committee on projects for the proposed outside services budget for FY 87/88. Sponsors discussed the relative importance of each project. The Steering Task Group will have an open meeting on December 2 for HSC members and task group chairmen to prepare the final budget proposal to CMA's Finance Committee. 6. Goal 4 Workplan The committee approved the External Affairs Task Group's proposed workplan for Goal 4. 7. Superfund Title III The committee discussed Title III of Superfund and CMA's role in its implementation. C. Cathcart will head a CMA staff team to identify issues from the November 17 Federal Register for comment along with resources needed. The Steering Task Group will discuss CMA 060814 HSC Meeting Minutes November 19, 1986 Page 3 and recommend a management plan to the Executive Staff of CMA at its December meeting. 8. Safe Handling and Storage of Chemicals in Warehouses V. Boyin and G. Lopez will form a work group on the safe handling and storage of chemicals in warehouses, which will report to the Safety Programs Task Group. 9. Roundtable Discussion on Drugs in the Workplace The committee was invited to attend a roundtable discussion on drugs in the workplace to be held December 10. 10.
