Dan: I emailed Tom with biosketch on August 7th at 8:13 AM CDT and got a message that he was out of the office until the 12ih and to contact his Deputy, Khanna Johnson. I emailed Ms Johnson the biosketch on August 7ih at 9:18 CDT and got a response on August 7 and 8:29 EDI. i calied at left a message.

I wanted to let you know that I received a cal! from EPA noting that they have not heard hack from you regarding whether you are interested in serving on the Science Advisory Board. They said that the SAB Designated Federai Officer Thomas Carpenter had tried to reach you. His contact info is below--wouid you mind caliing or emailing him to confirm your interest? it sounds like they plan to publish the names of nominees quite soon.

Good afternoon Dr. Blanz,
Apologies for contacting you out of the blue, but I am writing to let you know that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
intends to nominate you for consideration to serve on EPA's Science Advisory Board (SAB). As you may know, EPA issued
a
to SAB and CASAC on June 27th. We shared this announcement with our membership and
broader network of colleagues (including the Arkansas Chamber of Commerce), and your name was strongly
recommended to us as one of 10-12 nominees (including and especially yourself) that we have agreed are highly
qualified and worthy of appointment to serve on SAB.
The deadline for nominations is Thursday, July 27th. At the close of this nomination process, EPA will compile a List of Candidates from which it will take public comment on for 21 days before making a decision on appointments. (Note: it is my understanding that there could be as many as 15 new appointees to the SAB.)
Sorry for the short turnaround, but please let me know if you do not wish to be considered or if you have any reservations about being nominated (or if you have any other questions or feedback for us). Thanks!
