MAY 16, 1991 WORLD REGISTER OF CASES ANGIOSARCOMA OF THE LIVER (ASL) RELATED TO ASHTAUBLA, OHIO PROCEDURE: Annually, the retired employees from the former GenCorp/General Tire facility in Ashtabula, Ohio, are offered medical exams which are coordinated and scheduled by Harlan Jewett, former Plant Manager of the Ashtabula facility and currently Plant Manager at the Mogadore Latex manufacturing plant. Any unusual findings from the voluntary physical examination program are submitted to Ken Breyley for determination as to whether they are compensable as work related for Workers' Compensation benefits. All former employees at the Ashtabula plant eligible for pension benefits may also be carried under the Aetna Insurance policy for health care. Mr. Breyley has established a "red flag" system with Aetna for the reporting of any angiosarcoma cases. Annually, we receive a request for an update of the world Register of Cases which currently contains only two active ex-employees. Upon receipt of this document, past practice simply required an inquiry through Ken Breyley*s office as to whether there was any change in the status of the current two cases, and to determine if there are any new ones either through the physical examination program or the "red flag" system through Aetna Insurance Company.
