RATE REDUCTION - CHICAGO PLANT
Supplementing my letter of March 11, attached pages of Quality Carrier's tariff #401-D contain recently negotiated rate reductions from Chicago Plant to specific destinations. Reduced rates become effective May 12, 1983.
Reduced rates apply only on commodities named in Item
1790; Quality now has a conflict in rates to Front Royal between
3,71 cwt in Item 1790 and 4.13 cwt in Item 1940 (copy attached) on Resin, NOI and paint increasing or reducing compound. Until we can have Quality include all commodities under lower rate, Chicago Plant must be careful to apply the correct B/L description.
In addition to destinations listed in my March 11 letter totaling $40M annual freight savings, destinations of Fairfield, AL; Omaha, NB and Flint, MI have been included and at 1982 volume will increase total savings to $42.3M.
