FRAZIER It was reoently been brought to our attention that the problem of burning leaded gasoline in heaters has been effectively dealt with in Army heating units. We feel sure that you would have cognizanoe of such investigations. The heaters, in our particular case, burn aviation gasoline of 91 octane rating. The lead compounds as a result of combustion, oxides and lead sulphate, offer a serious cleaning problem after a period of operation. Any information you could give us concern ing the removal of the tetraethyl lead prior to combustion or the removal of the lead compounds formed by combustion and sub sequently deposited in the heat exchanger would be deeply appre ciated. These accumulated deposits are inaccessible to sand blasting.
