General Tire (Evansville) said they would start using it in PVC food conveyor belts. Feed-back from Baxter-Travenol, Colorite Plastics and W. R. Grace (Ellay) has indicated a potential H2O sensitivity pro blem with S-334F. This problem appears to be caused by a low molecular weight contaminant (glycol di stearate) in our pro duct. Our program to determine chronic vapor inhalation toxicity on Santicizer 711 is underway. The 90 day subacute oral feeding study on S-711 has shown no untoward ef fects to ddte. The media has been quiet on the phthalate subject. Santoset I W. R. Grace is preparing for bulk storage of Santoset I. This will be the first bulk customer for this product. They use Santoset I in automotive battery separators. Polyurethane Plasticizers A laboratory scale run of Santicizer 358 (phenoxy ethyl benzyl phthalate) was made in May. This product will be introduced to polyurethane and polysulfide and other uses (Aroclor replacement) during July. A technical bulletin is being prepared. Sulfonamides Commercial Development is participating in a joint project to increase the market for this product group and to find a suit able replacement for Santicizer 8 and Santicizer 8 Special which will probably be eliminated when Saccharin is discontinued. /jar P.
