The EPA is conducting a public hearing on the proposed standards for asbestos on February 15 at 10:00 AM at D.S. Court House, Room 1501, 312 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, California. If your company plans to make a statement at this meeting a notice must be filed 15 days before the hearing. If practical, the state ment should be submitted 10 days before the hearing. Otherwise copies of the statement may be submitted at the opening of the hearing'. Please note item 61.22 (e)(1) which prohibits the spraying of any product which contains asbestos on any portion of a building or structure. I'm confident the EPA has in mind sprayed mineral wool/asbestos structual steel fireproofing, not products such as manufactured by Paco Textures, so the rule should be deleted or rewritten.
