Molloy H. F. Ray R. M. McCutchan P. J. Verna^_^5 Following is the status of TSD Job No. 3969 - Improve Aroclor Blend Operations. As a part of the Aroolor expansion project CEA 1800, CED is upgrading and improving the blending facilities. These changes include: 1. Providing a TTCB storage tank, 2. Converting #8 storage tank to a #3 mix tank and 3. Providing meters to measure the materials to the mix tanks. These improvements will make TTCB readily available and Increase the probability of blending in-spec material on the first try. The operators will be able to set meters which will automatically cut off flow when the proper volume has been charged to the mix tank. TSD developed a chart which will Indicate the proper blend composition given the Specific gravities of the two components to be mixed. These improve ments are expected to be completed during the latter part of November. Part of the problems with these blends are that the blend product specs.have narrower ranges than the TCB and TTCB raw materials. The possibility of broadening blend specs will be investigated. The possibility of narrowing the raw material specs seems unlikely as Hooker has problems meeting current specs. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call me. T. E.
