Re: Uniform Warning Label
Enclosed are two samples of the suggested: uniform labels. They" have been prepared in accordance with the' attached Report on . Uniform Warning; Label which was approved by the Executive Com mittee at its January 26:
The labels differ in, the location of the warning statement. One label bears the precautionary notice for, aj,product flashing below 80F. The other label,relates to a product flashing. above 80F.
These labels have been declared by hr. Jerome .Trichtor, Deputy -Commissioner of Health in Hew York City, in compliance with that city1 s Lead Labeling Law. They also follow the Associa.tion's recommended labels, dated October 1, 195^ (copy enclosed), which was mailed to Class A and E members on October 20, 195^.
The: labels do hot1 comply with the language of the Kew York City
"Fire\Department Rules. However,; they will"-if that city's .Fire 1 .

In accordance with the Executive Committee's direction, a suggested uniform label has been prepared. This is the result of .preparation and consideration
of a label by the Association staff ;;with advide 'vand guidaice of;!the ^Industry : i * Label- .Committee^which met ; in :New York on ^January 19. .

1. A precautionary^notice should bear, an appropriate .statement of the warning 1 concerning;' the, use of; a pro-duct. ..
2. The .warning clause :shali be in size of type at .least: equal to but contrast ing to the size of type of the directions for use.
3; . Any reference in the warning . clause to a .special: risk shall be in somewhat. ^larger type than that of the directions for use.
All warning clauses shall be placed on the label in close proximity to or incorporated in the directions for use0
It is recommended; that no warning statement be placed on the front of the label. This should be reserved solely for the manufacturer's brand name, trade mark,, statement of type of product, name and address, and any other individual fea tures.: It is further recommended that no uniformity should be applied to a warning label in regard to color, location on the label, or size of type (ex cept as specifically stated) 0
The sample, labels have been prepared with particular reference to the recent
