My dear Mr. Webbs Thank ypu very much for the correspondence relating to various plans for our trip abroad. I have my passports, of course, and British visees for them, and I am very glad to have had such mat ters as hotel accommodations attended to* The imtter of appointments may be arranged, of course, in any way and at any time. I shall be armed with all of the experimental data which we have obtained on all aspects of the tetraethyl lead matters. In''addition to these I will have all of the rules and regulations that have ever been proposed, and that have been followed in various places, together with pictures of various set-ups, blue-prints, and specifications of our present equipment* Finally, I shall be pre pared with at least one copy of our report to the Surgeon General for this year* As you doubtless know we .encountered many delays in getting our data completed. Mostly on alfcount of difficulties which were encountered in getting controls o u t % f refineries and filling stations. All of the data is now completed, ho\?ever, and we are all working with the most haste to complete the report. I am sure now, as X have not been before, that it will be completed. I am planning to deliver a copy of the report, together with all of our original data to Dr. Leake on Tuesday, May 10th* I shall then visit Wilming ton and will be in Saw York as soon thereafter as possible for the completion of any plans necessary before leaving. Dr. Cummings Informed me that he had written cer tain letters of introduction to various persons in Great Britain and that he ha^: sent them to Dr. Patterson* 1 have not received these lettei from Dr* Patterson# I have assumed that they have "been sent to the Hew York office for me. If this is not true will you please get in touch with Dr* Fatterson and find out what has become of these let- - ters? V X find myself approving all of the arrangements that have been made, and X think it highly ddsirable that we have letters from all of the authorities that have been mentioned in Mr* Tegner* s letter. I see no reason where there should be any difficulty in ob taining these letters. If there is any difficulty please let me know at once, for X am quite sure that X can obtain personal letters of introduction and of recommendation from the provincial authorities in Toronto.
