1 HOURLY SAFETY COMMITTEE PLAINTIFF'S EXHIBIT MEETING January 25, 1977 Present: Absent: Ron Albrecht W. B. Baker Wayne Bryce Don Leach W. H. McDonald Frank Radler M. L. Zeller Jesse Hernandez David Reynolds OLD BUSINESS 1. The discussion centered around modifications to the ramp at Dock 2 which the committee felt should be underway and nothing has been done to date. The hazard of having to step onto something, or actually jump, to the barge still exists. The only feedback information that the committee has received to date is that an engineering study is underway and the question is "when will some action be taken to prevent a major injury." 2. Safety meetings in Depts. 19/25 and the answers to safety problems are creating some attitude problems. 3. Additional portable radios were promised and supposedly approved some time ago for Material Handling personnel but they have not been received and the feeling is the radios would be a great help when people in this group are working by themselves at the various iso lated locations. What is current status on providing additional radios? NEW BUSINESS Zeller 1. Matting which was to be installed around the equip ment in the machine shop has not been installed. What is the status on this product? Albrecht 1. The telephone cord on the telephone which usually sits on top of the freezer in the cafeteria creates a serious tripping hazard for cafeteria employees, The phone needs to be relocated or the wiring revised to eliminate the hazard. In addition, an explanation of the new methods of recording and reporting occupational injuries and illnesses as adopted by the corporation and the National Safety Association was presented to the committee.
