It is much appreciated. I have asked the Board of Health to give me enough material so that I can write a monthly bulletin on the subject of poisons encountered in connection with a car. Carbon monoxidS I already understand to some extent and now with your letter I have something which is authoritative on the subject of poison ing from gasoline. I dare say that Dr. Hamant will hardly differentiate the single case referred to as lead poisoning because the symtoms of irritation which you describe were about what occurred. It has seemed to me that if I could get information about what to do in cases of accidents of this kind, it would be useful and would help educate people not only by telling them what to do if anything happens but to call attention to the like lihood of such occurrences and thereby prevent the practice. Even last evening in the course of conversation with one of my friends I found that he - an old and experienced operator and a man of note in the world - actually tried the same stunt of suck ing up gasoline a few days earlier. It seems to me that any such procedure as that ought to be stopped, and while I do not want to get up a scare about gasoline poisoning or anything of that kind, it certainly was never Intended to drink or for any human being to get into his mouth.
