This ort summary with the attached documents should serve to give j an idea of how the study was conducted. This summary is sically from the view point of the plant and concerns the tivities that involved plant personnel. It is certainly not a mprehensive report as much of the work was done by St. Louis rsonnel, particularly Jan Yung. I am sure that she can supply portant information that wi 11 "fill in the gaps". iversity of Cincinnati Health Study s purpose of the study was to follow up on U. of Cinn. vestigatione conducted in the early 1950's after the 1949 plosion and determine what, if any, exposure related health fects were still evident. om the start it was the goal of the plant to remain independent om the U. of Cinn. group in the conduct of the study. Our jor goals were two'folds (1) To encourage as many individuals as possible to attend the health examination (2) To obtain the most complete data possible to assure accurate and verifiable results termination of the Cohort Suskind desired complete control over who was to be invited, obviously wanted as many of the exposed and not exposed as ssible. To meet the needs of Dr. Suskind, J. Yung investigated ant personnel records, workman's compensation records, plant dical records to determine who among plant employees, retirees d terminated employees were exposed to 2,4,5-T. Workman's comp, lords and medical records^high lighted individuals who had a 3tory of chloracne. Dr. Suskind was provided a list of'* such loyees as well as a list of current and retired employees that y be suitable for use as controls. A total of 728 were vi ted. A letter written by Or. Suskind along with a stamped dressed response card was sent to each employee, retiree, or rminated emplovee.
