Mr. George Sidlo CAECO-Pipe CorapanyRagland Plant Attached is the computer print-out of the results of the personal monitor samples sent to D.O.E.S. under your cover letter of November 6, 1980, requesting asbestos analyses. The chemist who analyzed these samples, Mr. Frank Burton, reported that he could not find any asbestos fibers on either of these two filters. However, he found very little, if any, particulate matter on the filter designated as having been utilized to sample inside the respirator breathing zone of the Racal powered air-purifying system. Mr. Frank Burton reports that a considerable amount of particulate matter (nonfibrous) was observed on the filter used to sample outside the respirator air intake port of the Racal respirator. Therefore, these observations indicate that the Racal respirator is providing clean filtered air to the worker's breathing zone.
