ESSO RESEARCH AND ENGINEERING COMPANY MEDICAL RESEARCH DIVISION ' ~ P. O. BOX 45. UNDEN, N. J 07036 December 14, 1966 Dr. J. W. Clayton, Jr. Haskell Laboratory E. I. duPont de Nemours & Co. Newark, Delaware Dear Wes: Recently we conducted a patch test for one of our affiliates in which human subjects were exposed to samples of dyed and undyed fabric. Although no normal subjects were sensitized, there were some positive responses to subjects known to be sensitive to paraphenylene diamine. One of the colors involved in the dye system was Disperse Yellow 23 which we understand is manu factured by DuPont. We would certainly appreciate learning if you have had any experience with sensitization or the evoking of a response in sensitized people from contact with this color. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. With best regards. Sincerely yours. RASrbsn R. A. SCALA, PhD ' r/t ,t ^ 2.3 cL. cty- /* 2*ji.*~* - l4u> ~C&u-u.
