Ethanolamines/Glycol Ethers Tier 3 Procedure Section Number Issue Number Original Date Date Title References :213 :1.3 : 12-26-91 Author: Mike Viator : 12-29-95 .Putting E-244 In Service :Glossary Of Equipment Identification (Text #114) 213 Putting E-244 in Service 1.0 Objective: 1.1 To put this plate exchanger in service without compromising the quality of the product are damaging the plate exchanger gaskets. 2.0 Responsibility: 2.1 It is the responsibility of the Operations Supervisor and the Senior Operations Specialist to ensure that this procedure is fully complied with. 2.2 It is the responsibility of the Senior Operations Specialist and the Operations Specialist to ensure that this procedure is executed in a safe and efficient manner. 3.0 Safety Notations: 3.1 Monogoggles required, rubber boots recommended. 4.0 Special Notations: 4.1 E-244 should be blown out with nitrogen and pressure tested prior to being put in service. 4.2 The reason for flowing backwards in step 5.1 is to reduce the pump pressure while starting up. 5.0 Procedure: 5.1 With E-244`s upstream block valve closed (T-240 bottoms in) slowly crack the downstream block valve to flow backwards through E-244 and out of the upstream bleed. 5.2 After you have purged out the T-240 bottoms side and established a good clean product flow, block in the upstream bleed valve. 5.3 To put the T-250 feed side of E-244 in service you should repeat step 5.1 (only with DV-243B feed to T-250) flowing backwards through E-244 of out of the upstream bleed until you get a good clean product flow, then block in the upstream bleed valve. Open up the upstream and down-stream block valves on T-250 feed side and then open the upstream and downstream block valves on T-240 bottoms side.
