Dear Bob:
Many thanks for your letter of July 17th, which, though it leaves me feeling like Edward Lear's man with a beard (who said "it is just as I feared"), none the less gives me something to go on*
* And I particularly appreciate^your offer of help on the lead mono graph, a proposal of potentially inestimable value on which you may well be taken up. At the moment, however, vre are undecided as to our approach to the problem.
/
As to the discussion in your final paragraph, subject to approval by our Board of Directors, we have decided on Thursday and Friday, November 6th and 7th, 1958, as the dates, and The Drake in Chicago as the place of our proposed Lead Hygiene Conference. I am saying "Keep Off" to all those who are apt to be meeting at about that time, and as you will of course be looked for as a prime _ participant, your name will be MOD, and writ in letters of no mean size on our books, if you do not reserve those dateer for us.
Sincerely,
