Valis1[wvalis@wvalisllc.com] Invitation to Meet with the Leaders of the Trade Association Liaison Council, Manufacturing Action Council, and Regulatory Improvement Council 2017 RIC Membership.pdf; 2018 MAC LIST.pdf; 2018 TALC LIST.pdf Dear Mr. Wehrum, A belated congratulations on your appointment at the EPA. On Wednesday, the American business leaders of the Trade Association Liaison Council, Manufacturing Action Council, and Regulatory Improvement Council (please see enclosed membership lists and mission statements), met with your esteemed colleagues Samantha Dravis and Brittany Bolen, who after our successful session, immediately suggested that these groups have a similar roundtable with you and your staff in the Air Office. You should know we also had a very successful meeting with Administrator Pruitt in November. These organizations represent a significant portion of the US economy. For over 30 years they have worked with every EPA Administrator since Anne Gorsuch Burford. Frankly the last 8 years were very difficult, as President Obama's ever expanding regulatory state caused significant economic damage to America's businesses. We are ecstatic about the direction that President Trump, Administrator Pruitt, and you are setting as environmental leaders. Therefore, the leaders of the TALC, MAC, and RIC respectfully request a 40 minute meeting with you where the trade association leaders could share their particular industries' regulatory concerns with you, and where you could share the Wehrum-eye-view of where and how the EPA's Air Office regulatory landscape will continue to change in 2018 and beyond. I believe a roundtable discussion with these leaders would be mutually beneficial to you, the trade associations, and to President Trump's regulatory agenda. Our groups have proven themselves in the past to be able advocates on Capitol Hill for previous Republican Administrations. TALC was created early in the Reagan Administration to help with outreach between President Reagan and the business community. The RIC was created soon after to focus on sound regulatory policy, while the MAC came about during the 2000's to focus on helping American manufacturing companies. We are looking to schedule this meeting during early April, some proposed dates are: Tuesday, April 3rd; Wednesday April 4th; Friday, April 6th; Monday, April 9th; Tuesday, April 10th; and Thursday, April 12th. If none of the dates work on your end, please send me a few in later April that work for you, and we can find a time mutually convenient. We are so pleased that you and Administrator Pruitt are reversing overregulation, and that you are so active traveling and working with the grassroots. You are proving that environmental protection and economic growth are not contradictory, they are complimentary. Thanks again Bill, and we look forward to hearing positively from you.
