Fla., Issued, revived,_and Increased more Personal Life la Puerto Rico than any other company. The Atlantic Southern L. I. Co. of Puerto Rico vas the 2nd largest producer. It was their writing of Industrial that gave these companies their leadership. See table at bottom of page. Peninsular's Industrial written came to $12.8 mn. and the Ordinary to less than $1 tan. The Atlantic Southern's Industrial was $11.8 mn. and Ordinary $1.9 on. The Colonial Life of N.J. and the John Hancock are also writing Industrial on the island. The Peninsular was admitted to do business in Puerto Rico in 1951, the Colonial in.'50, and the Hancock in '56. The Metropolitan vas admitted In '53. The Jefferson Standard of K.C. has been the leading company as to Ordinary writing for the oast decade, at least. Compare table at foot of page. During the years 1956-8 they wrote between $8 on. and $9 mn. a year. The Atlantic Southern commenced business In 19hT and was organized by a former general agent in Puerto Rieo for the Jefferson Standard. It vas the first Puerto Rican Life insurance company and was formed primarily as an Industrial company, but has since embarked on a program of developing Ordinary as welll Two morn Puerto Rican companies have been formed in the past few years but un to this time little informa tion on their operations has become available. The L.I.A.M.A. reports that all companies have issued $38.7 m. of Ordinary in the first half of '60.
