Dear Gary,
-
Below are listed results of the analysis of the 4/14/69 sample submitted to our laboratories.
4/14/69 Sample New Fluid Spec
Viscosity at 100F Acid # Moisture
42.0 cs
2.45 30 ppm
52 max. less than .01 less than 50 ppm
This sample indicates that viscosity and moisture are in good
condition but that acid number is extremely high. This high
acid number in the absence of a high moisture content (which
normally produces an acid build up), indicates that the fluid
has undergone significant degradation. If this sample is
representative of the Therminol charge in the system, another
sample should be submitted immediately so that we may determine
what, if any, action should be taken. As I mentioned to you,
it would be better to drain the system and recover the Therminol
(for about half price) than to risk severe corrosion in the
system. After another sample Is submitted, we should discuss
what would be the best path to take here. Please call me if
you have questions regarding' these results or if I may be of
assistance in any way.
.
Very sincerely.
