XF: tf/SS Interoffice Communication To From Oats Safety Directors Tom Grumbles July 8, 1983 Subject HISS TRANSLATION PROGRAM As we discussed at the IH meeting, our old data will be entered In the HISS system via a translation program. In order to do this, a matching of unit and job/task codes between the old and new programs must be done. An attempt has been made to do this. The paired lists and preliminary HISS coding dictionary are attached. Please review this to see if the matches are suitable and fill Tn blanks where they exist. Several items to consider are below. 1. The HISS codes, particularly job/task codes, are designed for the corporation. As such they are broader or more general than our old codes were. Also, the unit and job codes are separate, whereas ours were together. The HISS job codes are "geared" more towards overall exposure potential, (i.e. an engineer is an engineer vs. the way we had it with process, mechanical, etc. seperated). 2. Under the "Operations" job code the inside designation is for control room type work. Other operations that are inside (drumming, compounding, etc.) but involve exposure potentials are to be considered outside operations. 3. This pairing of codes is for backloading purposes only. If in the future an expansion of the codes is necessary, this can be done. Please let me have your comments If you see a need for further codes.
