Perry Subject: ^Removal and Disposal of Asbestos Containing Insulation, Clarification and Additions Clarification of Items 1 and 2 of the Merz/Perry letter of November 6, 1978, on the subject follows: 1. The Industrial Hygiene Group will continue to be informed previous to the start of demolition. Based on the size, complexity, location and work practices, a decision will be made on the need for personal monitoring for asbestos. Many jobs are small and similar to earlier monitored demoli tions where little or no asbestos was found. For these, the established recommended work practices to assure personal protection from exposure will suffice. Monitoring will not be required. 2. Monitoring will be required: a. Where an unusual situation occurs so that the appropriate work practices may not be usable in whole or in part. UCC 015642 2 b. Where the job is of a size that the demoli tion will require more than two hours. Where demolition is scheduled off regular hours, the Industrial Hygiene Group should be informed during regular hours prior to the event. Then, if monitoring is determined to be necessary, arrangements can be made. For unscheduled off-hour situations, the names listed in the November 6 letter should be changed to include: G. W.
