The committee has held the first meeting and reviewed existing plant policy. They are scheduled to meet again on November 29 to develop a list of concerns. Fourth Quarter Safety and Housekeeping Inspection Will recommend to PMSB that inspection be held the middle two weeks in January. Emphasis, in addition to the normal check sheets, will include: Valve stem protectors Hose condition (how good is the semiannual inspection) Safety chains on chain operated valves Bypassing interlocks and critical alarm (does unit have interval procedures and are procedures being followed) Safety Calendars Will recommend to PMSB that they be dropped in 1984. There appears to be very little interest or enthusiasm for the calendars. Office Safety Committee Is planning a Christmas safety program. Baca, et al -2- December 8, 1983 Cooling Tower Fan Breaker Rufus Baca reported that a prototype installed on CT-2 works well. An AR is circulating to install breakers on all of the CT-2 cells. Plan is to complete one tower at a time. Hearing Protection Warning signs are in. Memo written by LP&S to responsible personnel. Unit/Craft Safety Training Will stick to the six-month term. LP&S has agreed to change the training dates to coincide with the start of the term. Annual Safety and Housekeeping Inspection Rosemary Fritz will be soliciting recommendations from inspectors and members of SHAC for changes in the 1984 inspection.
