I am enclosing herewith the original table a copy of which appears in the last report on the Ethyl Gasoline problem* I append to it your letter and the report sent me from which these data were compiled You will remember that we questioned particular ly the figures for 1929# and it occurs to me that since I am getting the material together for an article to be published, in the Journal -of Industrial Hygiene (if they will accept it), that it might be well to have these figures as accurate as they can be obtained* In checking over the figures which I Inserted under 1929 I find that what I did was to take the figures given in the report and to double them* Recognising that the first six months include the season of poorest gasoline distribution, 1 assumed evidently that the nest three months were given an approximately equivalent volume of distribution and, therefore, set down twice the amount for the nine months period* . This is undoubtedly somewhat in error and I believe it will explain the discrepancy which you noted I wish to revise this table therefore and to put in the figures for all of 1929 as accurately as possible If you will merely run in the figures,which I have no doubt you can obtain easily,in the proper column, I will publish the table accordingly* tfnder 1926 I have indicated a cross mark opposite the West Coast States. In the report which you sent an item of 10,276 appeared under Ethyl distribution. I can not but feel that this must be an error since, so far as my records go, there was no appreciable distribution on the West Coast until December of this year* Perhaps you will be good enough to check this point also.
