Currently, the ICG enjoys 100% of this business which exceeded 3,600 carloads in 1984. Over the past 10 months, there have been 8 derailments involving 34 of our cars on the ICG trackage in and around Aberdeen. A listing from our records is attached. While the pending sale of trackage to the G&M may have impacted your maintenance program, our concern is that proper precaution be taken in regard to our shipments. We are particularly concerned about the frequency of derailments involving VCM (hazardous- classification UN1086) cars. Though I am not aware of any resulting serious leaks or spills yet, the conditions for a potentially serious incident seem to be present. This letter formalizes Vista's previous requests to ICG to take the proper measures to ensure the safe and expeditious movement of our cars.
