They felt we should sq=-engthen oU:r working committee, the "Asbestos Study Committee", into an articulate organization that can respond quickly to those proposals which require a response or data, that would aid in reaching conclusions that present the viewpoint of the manufacturers of friction material. The membership of FMSI includes man} small corporations as well as the largest manufacturers, making it the most representative group in our product lines. I have been personally convinced that you would be the best chairman for thi~ committee., The membership will f:!Vorably respond, as well, to give you the -support you need to act (,<, "a bridge" between Government-and the friction material ind; try. If I surmised the feeling of the membership, you will have their financial, personnel, and moral support as their spokesman. We must address and respond to the latest EPA, OSHA, Workmens Compensation changes and international interchange of informat~on. We must change the committee's name to something much broader in significance andstaff this committee with industry spokepersons that are knowledgeable and ready to contribute to the objectives of the committee. We must truly represent all companies and interface with all other groups which are also working on the same or similar projects.
