RE: Dust Survey
Dear Mr. O'Sullivan;
As an element of American Mutual's Loss control Service, I an attaching the results of the preliminary study of atmos pheric dust conditions made in your plant September 21st and 22nd, 1965.
The dust levels found ^at this time erg evidence of your con siderable planning and knpiu?hor-Ljji designing and'Operating-- `"Ells plantl The tests revealed borHerTine exposure of only two or three employees at this time, while the levels found in the major manufacturing areas were well within the Thres hold Limit Value recommended.
In the pipe manufacturing areas, as shown in the Mineral Dust Analysis Table, the amount of quartz in the settled dust was in the range 21-24jS while the amount of asbestos was less than 2#. It is our understanding therefore, that outside of the handling of raw asbestos fiber, there is greater potential ex posure to free crystalline silica tliUll uU asbuslus"------------------
I appreciate the opportunity to assist you, Mr. E. Potlcay and Mr. John Vfoodv/ard, Quality Control Manager, in the study.
