It is the T & C Division's policy to utilize an experienced contractor to remove asbestos associated with renovation or demolition. Hiring of outside contrac tors should be consistent with the clearance procedure provided for in the Ford-UAW agreement. 060 personnel are planning to obtain a blanket order for emergency removal of asbestos pipe and tank insulation at all T l C Division Plants. To handle extreme emergencies (expected to be rare) using plant personnel, it is recommended that each plant purchase two (2) approved positive pressure respira tors, one (1) approved vacuum cleaner, and sufficient appropriate disposable clothing. Also, a minimum of three hourly employes and two of their salaried supervisors per shift should be completely trained in the preparation, removal, handling and disposal procedures. Unless there is specific evidence to the contrary, al1 insulation should be treated and handled as if it contains asbestos until proven otherwise. The personnel selected should be retrained on a yearly basis.
